Free remote sensor 

ecobee3 comes with one free remote sensor and can support up to 32. The sensors measure temperature and occupancy allowing the thermostat to balance the temperature in your home so that it is comfortable in the rooms they are actually in and not just the hallway.  
Is my home compatible?  
ecobee is compatible with virtually all 24VAC low voltage control systems. This includes conventional furnaces (gas/oil/electric), air-conditioners, heat pumps and boilers.

In rare cases, some customers may have a millivolt or line voltage (high voltage) system. If your existing thermostat is built into the wall, if it's labeled 110V or 120V, or if you can see thick wires connected by wire nuts, you may have a high-voltage thermostat. In these unusual cases, ecobee is not compatible. 

This thermostat is not compatibile with HVAC systems outside of North America.
